Nick, I'm not sure if it's because I'm running Windows 7 (official, build 7600), but I could not get past "Checking credentials..." I ended up installing it on my xp machine at work and then copying the bookmark token to my home machine and that got it working. So I'm good now, but if you want any info about my machine to try and figure it out I can provide it.
Also (I tried digging through the code but couldn't figure out), I was wondering how many tweets it saves to scroll through, and if this can be changed.
