When you say "Our extension lives at the bottom of the page", do you mean that you are using a toolstrip? If so those have been deprecated and will not work in upcoming builds of chrome and you'll need to rework your UI using the other available UI surfaces (page actions or browser actions).
Or are you using content scripts to inject html so that your extension displays something at the bottom of certain pages?
