Does anyone know if it is possible to create a application shortcut from within an extension? I know that I could do it with the Gears Desktop API (using desktop.createShortcut): http://code.google.com/apis/gears/api_desktop.html But I'm pretty sure you can't use Gears in extensions.
This functionality would be very useful to use in extensions in general, but is also the necessary next step for one very handy one I'd like to develop.
