Ah, thank-you for being more specific Arne. - my nickname was already set in my google profile, and it didn't use it to begin with. - so, I just changed my nickname to something new and then back again and waited 10 minutes. But, still it didn't use the nickname when I went into edit my extension's webpage (hosted on the gallery). so it still displays the first part of my email.
so it either doesn't work, or doesn't propagate over for me for some reason.
