Interesting and seemingly authentic story about the British actor Leslie Howard (Berkeley Square, Scarlet Pimpernel, Gone with the Wind, Never the Twain Shall Meet) being sent on a secret mission by Churchill in 1943 to try and stop Franco joining Germany and Italy in WW2. He got to meet Franco, but his plane was shot down by the Luftwaffe when returning to Britain.
