As a quotation freak myself, I'm not amazed at how many quotations are recycled.  I'm sure it would not be difficult to find that many of Churchill's "bon-est" mots came from previous sources.  But why should this be a deprecation?  Surely it is a tribute to Churchill that he knew how to quote the best of those who had gone on before.
