Churchill is Back
A Churchill will once again hold dominion over Westminster. Mandrake hears
that Duncan Sandys, Sir Winston's affable 35-year-old great grandson who
sits as a Conservative councillor on the city council, is a shoo-in as the
next mayor after he was put forward as the official Tory candidate for the
election in May. Sandys, who serves on the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust
Council and is also a grandson of Lord Duncan-Sandys, the former cabinet
minister, will be the youngest person to occupy the role. "I am delighted,"
he tells Mandrake.
