We are all, presumably, pressed for time. As soon as one reaches the phrase "Fox lunatics," or "Black lunatics," or "Jew lunatics," it's probably a good time to stop reading and know nothing of value will come afterwards. For full disclosure, I not only worked at Fox from the start-up until about 10 years ago, I was there when both Mr. O'Reilly and Mr. Olbermann were there. I'm not aware if, at the time, Mr. Olbermann was a Fox lunatic, and decided he'd rather be an MSNBC lunatic, or if he's now a freelance lunatic. Perhaps he preferred the "raving" on MSNBC to the "attacks" at Fox. If I looked into what O'Reilly said, I'd build a case and send it to his Senior Producer, who I also know. While most people don't, there's no reason you can't find out with a quick Google and really try to make your points heard.
It is correct to point out that personalities are somewhat distinct from their networks. They should be held responsible for what they say, and if they make errors -- as is all too common, which is why the Churchill Centre has a long list of myths they continually refute. I know it's hard work and drudgery to dig through the facts to build your case and refute someone else's, and still harder to compile them into a letter to someone you despise as a lunatic and feel they will probably never read. But, that's what Churchill would do in such a case, if we're going to play the WWCD? game and assume we know. Sometimes, people are simply wrong, and mean no malice, but simply have malicious personalities and delivery. Oh, my. I realized I also have met and continue to be connected through colleagues with Patrick J. Buchanan. Perhaps I am a lunatic, after all. On the case in point of it being better spent to confront him about his mistakes, misreads, and rattling opinions. The longest conversation about him confronted many of these points, but was some year before his befuddling book. I'm sure it'd be enjoyable to think of such a man as a serpent in a suit, but he is personally very gracious and kind and generous, which perhaps explains why he could sit across from Michael Kinsley all those years, who was equally gracious. Perhaps we could all learn from that point of view. I'm not lecturing, just saying. As for the personalities of the other two mentioned, I have ridden the elevator with both, and each and every time, prayed that the car wouldn't stop between floors. I guess I'm having a little bit too much fun rambling. Thanks for your indulgence -- unless, as I suggested, you stopped reading when I used the term "lunatic."
