Many thanks for this. Three remarks in connection with the article :
-F. Kersaudy also wrote a very entertaining book on Churchill and Monaco,
reviewed in the latest issue of _Finest Hour_
-I was shocked to read in the fifth "Comment" following the article proper :
"I've never been an admirer of Churchill - calling the Army in to prevent
the Jarrow march reaching London was about as low as you can get. " And this
by a reader of _The Times_! It seems it is not only the French who need to
brush up their knowledge of Churchill . . .
-By a curious coincidence, I have just finished reading W.L. Shirer's _The
Collapse of the Third Republic_. The last page (Pan Books p. 1092) has this
to say of de Gaulle :
"Back in his rural retreat [in 1955] he finished his three-volume memoirs, a
work of stunning literary quality and the French equivalent to Churchill's
memoirs".
