Alas, When this letter was written the British were indeed still wallowing in the mire! Winston had yet to arrive. If anyone understood the meaning of "a good stiff grog" it was the old Bulldog himself!!
Richard C. Geschke From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [ChurchillChat] FDR's Contempt for the British in 1939 Date: Thu, 25 Feb 2010 17:23:17 -0800 The Massachusetts Historical Society is displaying a collection of Presidential Letters. One of which may be of interest to Churchillians. The 15-Feb-1939 FDR letter states "what the British need today is a good stiff grog." Perhaps his desire was fullfilled when WSC became PM.
