Dear Mr Freeman,
"I have read all of his books as well and found them quite good" :
Could you perhaps give Members a list of titles? For obvious reasons, it is
idle to try to find them on the British Library site: if one only enters the
name and surname of the author - hundreds (most by his grandfather) will
then appear . . .
Thank you in advance,
A.Capet (Rouen, France)

Subject: [ChurchillChat] In Praise of the Late Winston Churchill
Colleagues,
We've seen what the fools have to say so why not offer up some praise
ourselves for our late Honourary Member?
I met Winston Churchill just twice, both times at Churchill conferences. He
was quite polite to me and cheerfully agreed to sign my copies of his books
after I had cornered him on both occasions in a rather cheeky way. I have
read all of his books as well and found them quite good.
Winston was absolutely right to condemn the USSR as a "giant concentration
camp" at a time when that amiable fool Michael Foot was quietly pocketing
KGB money to finance the petty costs of the journal Tribune. There is an
obvious parallel there with the career of Sir Winston who denounced
Bolshevism while Britain's Looney Left took marching orders from Lenin and
Stalin.
Another parallel is in the way both grandfather and grandson became
alienated from the leadership of the Tory party by having the audacity to
predict that human tragedy on an epic scale would follow the advent of
majority rule in former British colonies: India for Sir Winston, Zimbabwe
for the grandson. Both men were quite right in foreseeing what would happen
and quite wrong to believe that they could stop it. Nationalism can be an
irrational tyranny, but as William F. Buckley, Jr. often wrote, it takes
great personal courage to stand before the forces of history and yell,
"Stop!"
Respectfully,
David Freeman
