We seem to be witnessing an August bumper crop (premature; they
usually come in the dead of winter when people have more time on their
hands) of Outrageous Declarations about Winston Churchill. See the

It was Truman who had plenary authority to drop the bombs that ended
WW2, though Churchill certainly approved. We've covered that one, too.

I'm still waiting for my two favorites, that he knew about Pearl
Harbor and engineered the 1929 Wall Street Crash. Gassing the Iraqis
is a Golden Oldie, but it's been used too much to shock anybody
anymore.
