I just finished reading "The Tragedy of Winston Churchill" by Victor Wallace Germains, published in 1931. It is an unremitting attack on every aspect of WSC's career up to 1930 especially his rĂ´le in the Dardanelles. Kitchener and Fisher are "heroes" and "geniuses." WSC is a "demagogue" and "unfit" for ministerial office. It is also an attack on the British General and Naval Staffs.

Searching the Internet for the author reveals that he published several works between 1913 and 1954, including several with military themes, but I can find nothing about the author, nor have I found a reference to him in the O.B. He does appear to this militarily uneducated mind to have an understanding of military technology, tactics and strategies.

Did WSC ever read him? (He certainly had the time in 1931!) Did he ever respond to the attack? If Germain's last book was not published posthumously, did he change his mind after the War?

Does anybody know anything about this author?
