Dave... The quote you provide doesn't actually link Omdurman with WW I.
I was surprised to see a cavalry 'charge' depicted in the film 'War Horse' which related to WW I. I subsequently looked up on-line about cavalry charges and since the Battle of Omdurman is oft quoted in Churchill literature as the 'last', it was only the last 'major' charge and by no means *the* last.
