There is an interesting article in yesterday (Saturday's) Daily Telegraph 'Telegraph Magazine' colour supplement entitled 'National Treasure' which describes the auction at Sotheby's later this month of precious possessions of Lady Mary Soames. It includes some of Sir Winston's paintings, including 'The Goldfish Pool at Chartwell' (1932) and 'Tapestries at Blenheim' 1930.
I trust that the latter is not the painting that was on display in the Drawing Room at Chartwell for the last couple of months of the season while the Monet was on loan for the Sherlock Holmes exhibition in London, but it certainly looks very similar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Riddle White Cottage 4 Sunningvale Avenue Biggin Hill, Westerham Kent TN16 3BT Tel: 01959 570359 Mobile: 07966 472340 e-Mail: [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ChurchillChat" group.
