our Congress really has worked hard for us, remember she and some others even
went to Afghanistan.

    Dear Theresa J,
The days of a do-nothing Congress are over.
In a little more than two weeks the House accomplished what the previous
leadership had failed to do for years:

   Enact the 9/11 Commission Recommendations
   Increase the Minimum Wage
   Expand Stem Cell Research
Negotiate for Lower Prescription Drug Prices for Seniors
Cut Interest Rates on Student Loans
End Subsidies for Big Oil and Invest in Renewable Energy
And this is just the beginning.
Voters called for change in November, and they expect their members of
Congress to continue to deliver change.
Americans United for Change is a critical part of this effort because it puts
grassroots pressure on legislators where it matters most -- in their home
districts.
The work is already paying off: each of these items passed with resounding
bipartisan majorities because of the action on the ground by people like you.
The Senate just passed the Fair Minimum Wage Act, and that important measure
will soon be sitting on the President's desk.
That's progress -- and there's more to come.
Whether it's minimum wage or the war in Iraq, Americans deserve the change
they have been promised. Make no mistake -- it's a tough fight because the
stakes are so high.
Please take a moment and make a down payment on continued vigilance on the
issues that matter to ordinary Americans. You and the American people have
worked so hard to get to this point, and Americans United for Change has helped
lead the way.

How does Americans United for Change work?
While Congress works feverishly in Washington, Americans United for Change
has been running an aggressive field program in congressional districts across
the country.
Americans United for Change serves as the boots on the ground rallying public
support and holding Members of Congress accountable for their actions on behalf
of American families.
Americans United for Change has made real progress -- real change -- on these
important issues, and these early successes are just the tip of the iceberg.
If Americans are going to get real change in real time, it's going to take
sustained communication with Members of Congress.
Americans United for Change exists to make sure that the people and the
headlines back home send a clear message to the Members of Congress who might
try to block real progress.
Americans United for Change has begun budgeting for the next push right now,
and your donation can help them hire that extra field organizer, play in
another district or print another thousand leaflets. You called for change; now
help Americans United for Change deliver it:

In 2005, the team at Americans United for Change led the charge to stop
President Bush's effort to privatize Social Security -- and won.
In 2006, they led the national media campaign for real change and a new set
of American priorities -- and won.
Please help Americans United for Change have as dramatic an impact on 2007.

The days of a do-nothing Congress may be over -- but the fight for change is
only in the first round.
Thank you for being part of the fight.
  Speaker Nancy Pelosi
