Invite your friends and family to email President Bush Today!
This week, the House and Senate passed an emergency spending bill that
requires President Bush to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq by this October.
While it is not perfect, this bill puts the Congress squarely on record against
our open-ended involvement in this civil war and demands that the President
start bringing our troops home.
I am pleased that both houses of Congress are speaking together with one
voice, united with the vast majority of the American people who are demanding
change in Iraq. Now the bill needs only the President's signature to become
law.
Thank you for writing the White House and telling President Bush it is time
to begin the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. Now, help us send the
strongest message possible by inviting your friends and family to do the same!
After more than four years of failure and a direct repudiation of his policy
by the American people in last November's election, the President still refuses
to face the facts and accept the need for a new direction.
For too long, the Republican Congress gave the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld team a
blank check to conduct the war in Iraq, and the result has been one of the
worst foreign policy disasters in our nation's history. This lack of
Republican oversight may have given President Bush the mistaken impression that
the White House is the only branch of government that matters -- but now a
Democratic Congress, supported by the American people, are speaking out
together and demanding a change of course.
Tell the White House that they won't get any more blank checks. Invite your
friends and family to email President Bush today.
President Bush still has the opportunity to face reality and begin working
with the Democrats in Congress to find an honorable end to our engagement in
Iraq.
But it's not his way or the highway. Congress has sent a good, fair Iraq
bill to the President's desk -- now it's his responsibility to sign it.
The President still has a chance to do the right thing. I hope that you will
invite your friends and family to contact him today and urge him to sign our
Iraq withdrawal bill. It is time to end this failed policy.
