Scaife, Who Spent Millions to Dig Up Dirt on Bill Clinton, Now Is in the Middle
of a Pretty Dirty Scandal Himself

October 22, 2007 (LPAC)--The eccentric right-wing billionaire Richard Mellon
Scaife, who bankrolled a multi-million dollar investigation of President Bill
Clinton and his wife Hillary in the 1990s to dig up any dirt which could be
used in an effort to drive Clinton from office, is now revealed to be in the
center of a tawdry sex scandal in his hometown of Pittsburgh.

According to sealed court documents which were inadvertently made public a few
weeks ago, Scaife has been involved in a bitter divorce battle with his second
wife, Margaret "Richie" Scaife, after she caught him in his house with Tammy
Sue Vasco, a woman with a history of prostitution; it turns out that Scaife had
been meeting the woman twice a week at a local motel which rents its rooms for
$28 for three hours (what used to be called the "hot sheet trade"). "Scaife
would show up in a chauffered car, dressed in a suit, wearing cuff links,
always bearing flowers. Vasco would be waiting in the same roon every time,
Room 5 on the ground floor, facing the parking lot." Scaife would stay two
hours, and then get back in the waiting chauffered car and leave.

Having a little fun at the humorless Scaife's expense, the Washington Post
lists some of the beneficiaries of Scaife's "philanthropic" largesse, such as
the Heritage Foundations which promotes "traditional values" and published
papers on topics such as "Restoring a Culture of Marriage," and Paul Weyrich's
Free Congress Research and Educational Foundation, which asks, "Will America
return to the culture which made it great, our traditional, Judeo-Christian,
Western culture? Or will we continue the long slide into ... cultural and moral
decay?"

Unmentioned by the Post, but otherwise well-known, is that Scaife also
bankrolled the public-private "Get LaRouche" task force in the 1980s as well.
