As I read through the many books on the CIA's covert actions as they pertain to
events past, present and future, I see an interesting paradox appearing.
These men and women, consumed by their lust for power and wealth, take
extraordinary steps to hide their actions.  Why?  If they're so damned powerful
why do they have to sneak around and hide what it is they are doing, especially
when it is a matter of "national security"?  Is it perhaps because each outward
public manifestation of progress and accumulated wealth is a personal reminder
of their failure to really achieve success?  They push and push and push at the
boundaries of the legitimate and legal envelopes because they can and because
it allows them to avoid confronting that which they are most afraid of:
themselves and their own deficit's.  What a sad and pathetic bunch.
