I'm using rdist to access files on a remote Windows system and
synchronize them with local files, essentially using rdist in
"suck" mode instead of "blow" mode.

That is, on "nissan" I do

rdist -R -c "/home/rosalind/My Pictures/*" nissan:/home/pictures/

Every time I run this command it finds something to update, even though
nothing has changed on the source. It doesn't update everything, and it
doesn't update the same things every time, but always something. The total
size of files is about 5GB.

Using diff to compare the two directories shows that they're both the same.
I suspect rdist is finding some difference in the file modes, but I don't
know for sure.

Copying all the files to another local directory and then using rdist as
above doesn't find anything to update.

Is this a known problem with smbfs?

BTW, I was using smbfs on Ubuntu to do the same exact thing, with no
problems.

Is there a mount or config option that might be effecting this?

Should I just file a bug?
