Identity mapping is not required in workgroup mode because all users must be local to the Solaris system (no idmap thingy required). As with Windows in workgroup mode, create local user accounts on Solaris with the same names as your Windows accounts. When you set the password for these user accounts, entries should appear in /var/smb/smbpasswd.
