this is absolut correct, the line
12 fffffffff8504000 57728 262 1 smbsrv (CIFS Server Protocol)
is the kernel CIFS Server and nsmb is the smb network driver of the
client. It is for accessing the cifs share. If cifs share s are moutned
via the client you will see a third kernel module.
299 fffffffff88ca000 faa8 22 1 smbfs (SMBFS filesystem v1.32)
I have a short presentation how to setup cifs server and cifs client,
but - unfortunately it is in german.
