Thanks for the advice but it still not working..

What commands did you use?

Just to confirm, id mapping does not work with Workgroup environments right?

ID mapping is not required in Workgroup mode because all accounts
must be local - there is nothing to map.

Do I need to restart the service after changing permissions?

No, there is no need to restart the service after changing permissions.

The permissions look strange.
What permissions would you like to have set?
What commands are you using to set those permissions?

Alan

Permissions after applying the permission:
r...@osbox:~# /usr/bin/ls -vd /zstorage/Pictures/
drwxr-----+  8 user     software       8 Apr 11 20:55 /zstorage/Pictures/
    0:group:software:list_directory/read_data/add_file/write_data
        /read_attributes/write_attributes/read_acl:allow
    1:owner@:read_xattr/write_xattr/delete_child/read_attributes
        /write_attributes/delete/read_acl/write_acl/write_owner
        /synchronize:allow
    2:owner@:list_directory/read_data/add_file/write_data/add_subdirectory
        /append_data/write_xattr/execute/write_attributes/write_acl
        /write_owner:allow
    3:group@:list_directory/read_data:allow

Permissions after some trimming:
r...@osbox:~# /usr/bin/ls -vd /zstorage/Pictures/
d---r-----+  8 user     software       8 Apr 11 20:55 /zstorage/Pictures/
    0:owner@:read_xattr/write_xattr/delete_child/read_attributes
        /write_attributes/delete/read_acl/write_acl/write_owner
        /synchronize:allow
    1:group@:list_directory/read_data:allow

Added Permissions:
r...@osbox:~# /usr/bin/ls -vd /zstorage/Pictures/
d---------+  8 user     software       8 Apr 11 20:55 /zstorage/Pictures/
    0:group:software:list_directory/read_data/add_file/write_data/read_xattr
        /read_attributes/write_attributes/read_acl:allow
    1:owner@:read_xattr/write_xattr/delete_child/read_attributes
        /write_attributes/delete/read_acl/write_acl/write_owner
        /synchronize:allow

Still no luck...

r...@osbox:~# sharemgr show -vp
default nfs=()
zfs
   zfs/zstorage/Music smb=()
  zstorage_Music=/zstorage/Music
   zfs/zstorage/Pictures smb=()
  zstorage_Pictures=/zstorage/Pictures
   zfs/zstorage/Software smb=()
  zstorage_Software=/zstorage/Software
   zfs/zstorage/Videos smb=()
  zstorage_Videos=/zstorage/Videos

Anyone have any ideas?
