Child mounts are still not supported and as of this moment
it is not in our road map either.

We will have support for standalone DFS namespaces by the
end of calendar year. This could indirectly solve your
problem.

Hi,

as i wrote before, i play around with build 124 and cifs ..

My goal is to change our primary fileserver from samba 3.0.34 (b111b) to cifs
service ...

After solved some problems with idmap ( thanks jordan) i want to rebuild our
filesystem structure on the test-system when i recognize cifs is unable to
share multible filesystems under a single sharepoint.

I searched the forum and found some threads about this subject ... all from 2008

And now i want to ask, if there any news about this ???
And the RFE "6582165 Child Mounts" seems to be older than 1 year ...

For us this is important ... because i created many filesystems ;)
A lot of these filesystems has different snapshot intervals or different
settings for aclinherit and aclmode or other ZFS proberties ...
And for example each home-directory is a different filesystem ...

Sharing this structure with NFSv4 and Samba works fine !

The behavoior from NFS is similar to CIFS (showmount -e server showing all exported
filesystems) but i can mount the "root" export and access all subjacent
filesystems ...

It would be enough for us cifs accting in the same way ...

Or maybe there is another solution ?
