Is this in response to the "svcadm enable -r smb/server" step?

I think you really have two questions:

1) What do I do about this error message?

When you get this error message, I don't know what state the system has been left in. It might be OK. Say "svcs -x smb/server", and if it says that it's offline due to another service being disabled, manually enable that service (probably system/idmap). You might have to recurse, enabling *that* service's dependencies, but probably not.

This is NOT an ERROR message. This is just an informational message
printed by network service stating that there are multiple NICs.

2) How do I enable CIFS service on only one of my two NICs?

I don't know. One of the CIFS server specialists will have to chime in.

Currently, there is no mechanism to select a NIC for CIFS. CIFS server
will accept connection on all active NICs.

ok I have a system with 2 NICs one for Internet access one for the home network
setting up cifs I get this error

svcadm: svc:/milestone/network depends on svc:/network/physical, which has multiple instances

cat /etc/nwam/llp
e1000g0 dhcp
atge0 dhcp

I only want enabled on cifs on e1000g0

now do I do it ?
