I'm about to pull the trigger on a new OpenSolaris server. I've been using ZFS in FreeBSD for awhile (since 7.0 or so) so i'm not totally new to ZFS....
In FreeBSD i used samba, which i understand is an option in OpenSolaris but I'm guessing this isn't the prefered option. I've read a FEW websites about setting up cifs in opensolaris but I think i might be missing something. I tried to get it working in Virtualbox but it just didn't work. I'm looking for a couple good first time user guides for how to set this up, and possibly some good documentation other than simple man files. Do i use unix users? how do permissions work? how do i set the workgroup to match the rest of my network? Basically i just want to share a few filesystems over the network....In the past i used the smb.conf file which allowed me to force a unix group or user for specific shares....these are the types of things i need to figure out. I've got a few days before the ordered parts arrive so i'd like to set it up on a test machine and work out any bugs before they get here...or at least figure out the basics thanks for any help/recommendations....
