I just started up one of my older snv_134 test boxes, and the problem doesn't
seem to exist there, only snv_151a

Subject: [cifs-discuss] Windows explorer and DNS aliases

Hi,

I have a problem, that shows up when using explorer, and connecting to the same
host with different DNS names.
I have a DNS alias for the users’ home directories, like “homes” and the same
machine has another alias like “fileserver1”

The user’s home drive will be mapped to something like

\\homes\john$ and the group share will be mapped to something like
\\fileserver1\ourgroup
Now, if I open 2 “Windows explorer” windows (Windows 7), whenever I access

\\fileserver1\ourgroup the explorer window that has
\\homes\john$ open goes blank, and sometimes I’d get an error “Windows cannot
access

\\homes … Error code 0x80070035 – The network path was not found”. Also happens
in the other direction, if I open

\\homes\john$ ,
\\fileserver1\ourgroup becomes unavailable.

I’m running snv_151a.

This behavior doesn’t happen with a native Windows file server or Samba shares,
only on Solaris CIFS

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards
John Ryan
