Dear Dochelp,
I've spent 2 days trying to make a Windows DC join a samba server with
production data.
So far I haven't been very successful.
I tried with Windows 2003r2, the replication is ok but at the restart I
have an message id 26 on LSASS.EXE and I'm only able to reboot in repair
domain mode.
Checking with ntdsutil didn't show problems apart that quota a broken
and repairing them didn't work.
I tried with samba 2008r2 and the replication is not OK, it seems that
Windows is ok with the Schema partition, but for some reasons it loops
on the Configuration partition. I have this in the
c:\windows\debug\dcpromo.log file:

I tried to analyze with dcdiag the provision on the samba server it
seems ok apart from the FRS part (quite normal ...).
Is there a way to make dcpromo more verbose so it says what it is
waiting from the source (and why it keeps looping). I have somehow the
feeling that what makes Windows 2003R2 crash is what makes Windows
2008R2 loop forever, the question is what is it !
