Namibian Parliament receives relatives of the Five

WINDHOEK, September 26.- Relatives of the five anti-terrorist Cuban
political prisoners who have been incarcerated in the United States since
September 12, 1998, were received by Theo-Ben Gurirab, president of the
Namibian Parliament, according to a report on the NBC TV channel.

During the meeting, Adriana Pérez, wife of Gerardo Hernández; Magali
Llort, mother of Fernando González; and Irma González, the eldest daughter of
René González, presented the latest information on the case that has garnered
international support.

Meanwhile, representatives of different political parties have argued the
need to bring an end to the unjust imprisonment of the Five and demanded their
immediate release.

Besides this, they highlighted the fact that Fernando, René and Gerardo
fought in Africa and for that reason, in addition to acknowledging the
injustice committed against the men, they mentioned the gratitude they feel
towards Cuba "particularly for the victory at Cuito Cuanavale which forced the
South Africans to sit down at the negotiating table, and thanks to that Namibia
now enjoys its independence," they emphasized.

The president of the Namibian parliament also explained that the motion
supporting the Cuban anti-terrorists will soon be discussed within the heart of
the government. (SE
