Advance of Mission Miracle in Venezuela highlighted
CARACAS, January 26.-To date this year, 11,692 Venezuelans have recovered
their sight after surgery within Mission Miracle, according to Manuel Pacheco,
the international coordinator, PL reports.
Out of this total, 10,831 were operated on by Cuban specialists working
in Venezuela and 861 were attended to by Venezuelan doctors, he said.
Pacheco noted that 82 Hondurans comprised the first group to receive
operations in Rísquez and Jesús Yerena, both in Caracas, and they returned to
their country January 25, according to information released by the Bolivarian
News Agency.
The international coordinator added that a further 363 patients are
awaiting surgery in Venezuela, scheduled for this last week of January and the
first week of February.
Future plans are to operate on 456 Latin Americans from Honduras,
Paraguay, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Ecuador.
He emphasized that the joint work of Cuban and Venezuelan specialists is
making it easier to operate on Venezuelan patients and begin, on a grand scale,
operations for those who were found to need them during the 2008 mobile
campaigns.
