Thursday, June 25, 2009 Rajab 01, 1430 AH Terrorists Operation to continue till last terrorist tracked down: Rehman Malik 'Pakistan Times' Federal Bureau ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday said the government would continue the military operation against terrorists till the last Talib is tracked down by the forces. Addressing a press conference here at the Parliament House, Rehman Malik said the operation zone in Malakand and Swat had been cleared of terrorists and the next step of the government forces would be to stop the Taliban from regrouping. "Today, each and every Pakistani citizen says 'No' to Taliban. We would have to think who is providing these Taliban vehicles, infrastructure, ammunition, FM Radio Stations, and dollars. These fanatics have broken the hearts of so many mothers for using teen aged youngsters for suicide bombings," he remarked. "Let me tell you that each Kalashinkov and every bullet is being provided to Taliban from Afghanistan and the Pakistan government has raised this issue with Afghan government at every available forum. The terrorists who used to impose their own brand of Islam on Pakistani civilians have fled from Swat after having shaved their faces and now are on the run. We will not let them stay anywhere and would track them down," he added. The minister said the government would deal with any group or individual who would challenge the state writ. Rehman Malik said President Asif Zardari had also raised the issue of assistance to Taliban from across Pak-Afghan border with President Karzai. "We also raised the issue of border crossing and narcotics smuggling. We also proposed monitoring system on border and intelligence sharing as there is a possibility that some non-state actors are involved in these affairs. We have also urged the international community to help and expose such elements as our youth is being made drug addicted," he added. "We would not allow balkanization of the country and all the fanatic elements involved in target killings would be dealt with in real manner. Some elements are involved in target killing of Hazara and Punjabi settlers in Balochistan and the government would take them to task," he remarked. The minister said the President had conducted foreign tours and got $ 290 million which would be spent for equipping the armed forces, he added. "Soon the manual security system of vehicles would end and modern scanners would be installed which would screen explosives, drugs and other materials," he added. He said the federal authorities had nabbed two would-be suicide bombers who wanted to blow up parliament building and Elite Force headquarters. To a question regarding the list of 22 accused sent by India, Rehman Malik made it clear that Pakistan would not hand any individual to India. "Yes, there are international obligations. However, the government would decide if any request is sent by Interpol. We have told the international community that the world must recognize Pakistan and must deal with us at par with India," he added. On the murder of commander of Abdullah Mehsud group Qari Zainuddin, the minister said the investigation was on and all the aspects would be examined in the investigation. He said some families had returned to their homes in Buner. Regarding the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Waziristan, the minister said the Waziristan IDPs would also be provided all facilities. "I have information that around 60,000 IDPs have shifted from North and South Waziristan to their friends homes. I have asked the Chairman Nadra to register these IDPs as well," he said
