Taliban executes pregnant woman in public A file photo of the Taliban militants (Photo: AP) The Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan publicly flogged and executed a pregnant woman for alleged adultery. Authorities said Bibi Sanubar, a-35-year-old widow, was whipped 200 times before she was shot in the head three times on Sunday. Officials said a Taliban court found the woman guilty of having an affair that made her pregnant. Afghan police claimed a local Taliban commander Mohammad Yousuf carried out the execution. The Taliban, however, denied the claim. The unidentified man who allegedly had an affair with the widow was not punished. NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) has condemned the killing in a statement, saying the "tragic, gruesome brutality is an example of Taliban justice."
