Hi Andrew, I have a PC with Polaris AMD card (rx550). As I wrote earlier in neighbor thread I managed to get work vaapi decoding on that card. My card capable of decode HEVC decoding, but hw encoding h264 (and probably HEVC) is problem due to unsupported B-frames in driver or hardware.
If you create static build for debian 9 I can test hw encoding with my card.
