Hi Nicolas,
Well done!, good to hear you are happy with the process...

I still got a question... Do you confirm I must also set
"Bottom Fields First" in each media file, since it's already set
in the project? In each media file properties it is possible to define
the "Asset's interlacing". But there is also a checkbox "Fix
interlacing: Automatically Fix interlacing" ?!
Currently the way it works is: For each asset, if cinelerra can detect the interlacing for the source, (currently only for quicktime-DV at the moment) it will set the interlacing as appropriate, otherwise it will default to "undefined" (could be another word like "undefined" - I'm at work without a linux box). If cinelerra didn't detect it, (as per most other formats except DV) you can specify the asset's format.

In the project settings, you can then define what you want the output interlacing specification to be. Then when you placing assets on the timeline. cinelerra will compare the project-wide interlacing with each asset's interlacing, and if they are both the same, or either is progressive / unknown, then nothing will be done, and the video frame will pass through without any mods (except for the effects you do to it). Whereas, if the project is odd, and asset is even, (or vise versa) then the "Fix interlacing method" as defined at the asset info dialog box will be used to modify the frame so that the interlacing is correct. (at the moment the only method is to project up/down by 1 pixel)

Hope this explains how it works. In your case, since all the assets are likely the same, (being DV) if one asset is auto-detected as "bottom", or not detected and defaulted to "undefined", and your project-wide interlacing mode is "bottom" then everything should be fine...

I personally had a situation of a project combining DV footage with mpeg footage from a Panasonic standalone DVD recorder that produced "odd field first" footage, I personally got very annoyed at having to project up/down by 1 pixel whenever I switch between these assets, hence I implemented this patch...

Cheers,
Pierre
Do not hesitate to correct any mistake I did in this message. Perhaps
there are some options to change.
Possibly, but it seems to work, so I'd run with it!
