I've just commited a plugin that enables to manage evolving timefronts
in Cinelerra.

Basically the idea is that different parts of video move trough time
with different speeds and those speeds can change also.

It is primarily useful for footage from static camera, where you want to
speed up/slow down gradually just part of the picture, an example is
here:
http://www.kiberpipa.org/~minmax/timefront2.mov where the middle pair
dances slower than other two...

Also possible is interesting way of embedding titles with that approach,
for example you can put titles on video of the fire in that way, but
here is a simpler one:
http://www.kiberpipa.org/~minmax/timefront3.mov

The idea is based on this article:
http://www.vision.huji.ac.il/videowarping/HUJI-CSE-LTR-2005-10_etf-tr.pdf

Some more advanced stuff (that cannot be done with this plugin) is
displayed here: http://www.vision.huji.ac.il/videowarping/)

Yes, it is slow. It can be speeded up in cinelerra, by turning the
caching on, but this means source code editing. I'll see if it is
sensible to enable cache at all times...

The only remaining thing i plan to do is to make applying masks possible
at the beinning of track rendering istead at the end (by adding a
switch), which makes some other tricks with effects possible, that are
currently not, but mainly for the Timefront plugin it enables user to
edit timefront by using masks...

Anyone interested in documenting this plugin in wiki?

Bye
Andraž
