Hmm, maybe I'm misunderstanding you but it doesn't seem to work for me, the mute cuts out the flash, edit, everything. Also extending the ReframeRT effect overlays the flash effect from the next (fake) edit. What I wound up doing is creating a fake transparent png of the length of my transition, added the transition (flash) to it, and rendered it as a PNG Sequence (then re-loaded that and saved it as a XML). I then added a whole new video track just for the transitions, and I can now place them whereever I want. Kinda kludgey but it works...
