I'd appreciate a backtrace because I can't reproduce a crash.
Since I do have a sound card I changed the permissions of /dev/dsp0, so that I
can't open it and I get this:

but no crash, although playback does behave strangely: The timeline cursor
jumps around and the overall progress in the timeline becomes slower and
slower.
