yeah, its like ATI is giving us the finger and telling us to go.... well you 
know... because the Rage3D chipset is from the mid '90s era, a dead chipset 
still used by computers that burn coal ;)

the open source driver for nvidia cards is nicely going along, it does full 2D 
acceleration and supports nearly every single nvidia card on the market. 3D is 
not yet finished, but if someone needs 3D they can just use the closed source 
driver, so no harm done.
