Cinelerra is rather heavy multithreaded and thus will take some advantage
from SMP. But processing power is not the only limitation and in many
cases the limitation by the harddisk interface is more prominent. I.e.
if the system is waiting for some disk write operation to finish in order
to load the next block of media, even 8 cpus won't help much ;-)

absolutely. I'm quite happy wich my AMD64 X2 4200+ after all. To me
the difference of single core to multi core was much more noticeable
then the difference of running in 32bit mode or 64bit mode
