I am not sure I will give you a useful answer, but let me try :)

1. If you select "Window" (top menu line in Cinelerra's main window) and
then choose "Show overlays", a new window will appear. In this window
you will find many checkboxes. If you click them you can enable/disable
various controls in the time line.

For instance, if you enable "Fade", a white line will appear in the
timeline. By clicking on that line you can create keyframes (providing
of course, that the track is armed and the curent position of the line
is within the track's vertical range -> if you can't see it try Alt-f)
If you move keyframes up or down, you can then control visibility of
video tracks and volume of audio tracks.

However if you go 3 check-boxes up from the fade (in "Overlays" window)
you will also see 3 controls called:
Camera x
Camera y
Camera z

Those controls determine (please someone correct me if I am wrong) which
part of the picture (of the original clip) Cinalerra will process / show
in the video you are making.

Now lets suppose that your original clip is an image with a title you
wish to show. If you select "Camera z" checkbox, a blue line will appear
on video timeline('s). If you then place that image on the separate
timeline (above the time line of the movie), create a keyframe on blue
line and move that keyframe up and down, then you will see, that your
title is zooming in and out - depending on the position of the line.

What you need to do is to create 2 keyframes on a blue line
(e.g. one with value 0.2 and another 2) and you should get the desired
result.

2. But there is another way.
If you wish to use Cinelerra's Title effect rather than an image, then
you can do so. But I am not sure if the text created by title effect can
be zoomed in the same way as an image - with Camera z control (I never
tried).

However you can create many keyframes (e.g. in each frame) in the title
effect and in each frame you can increase the font size of the text).
It's some work, but you should be able to get the desired result in this
way too.

There may be another ways as well...

All the best and I hope you can make it!
