Hello,
Hello,
On my dual Xeon machine (while Rendering) i have around 70% of CPU
usage, i noticed that it doesn´t have any effect when i enable or
disable the Option "Use only on CPU" in the settings menu.
Do you show 70% on both cpus if you use a load tool, like top?
In top it show a load of 70% at all (99,9% for one cpu and the rest for
the second CPU).
As Hannes explained to me recently, the "Use only one CPU" option means
really to use a single worker thread to dispatch frame rendering jobs.
They still get shared on multiple cpus.
It even takes the same time to Render if i use one or two CPU´s. Not
sure why.
What do you mean by 'use one or two cpus'? I can disable a core in the
bios on an AMD X2 and have rendering take about twice as long.
Well, it doesn´t have any effect if i set "use only one cpu" to on than
if this is set to "off" in both case the "rendering time" is nearly the
same.
The only thing that helps here speed up things is the Renderfarm (using
3 boxes).
If cinelerra is really only using one of your CPUs, you can run a
renderfarm node on the same machine. But that should not be necessary.
Hmm, it might be worth a try.

I noticed Cinelerra doesn't consume all the CPU ressources available on
my system when rendering.
Here's a screenshot of gkrellm when rendering :

Here's an MRTG graph, rendering was done between 0am and 8am:

Here are the first lines of top:
top - 12:46:33 up 17:42, 4 users, load average: 2.04, 2.16, 1.74
Tasks: 99 total, 2 running, 97 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie

The processor is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, and total
bogomips is 10562.
I encode into YUV4MPEG piped into mpeg2enc. I use the -M 3 parameter
with mpeg2enc:
mpeg2enc -M 3 -v 0 -K tmpgenc -r 32 -4 1 -2 1 -D 10 -E 10 -g 15 -G 15 -q
7 -b 9400 -f 8 -o $1
Is there anything to do on my system to get cinelerra use 100% of the
available CPU ressources? I'm quite surprised to see not all the CPU is
consumed on a dual cores system. What about people running 4 procs
systems?
The project contains large pictures with zooms, travellings, etc, made
with camera keyframes. There're very few effects, such as perspective.
Thanks.
Nicolas.
