------- Comment #15 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2006-12-30 21:21 +2 -------
I think I'm suffering from this bug. I'm working on a project that has been
created in 2.1 and has never been edited using anything else. I have tried
using both the FreshRPMS-package for Fedora Core 5
(cinelerra-2.1-0.10.20061024.fc5) and SVN version 962 that I built myself on
FC5.
The project has an stereo audio track recorded using a separate device and lots
of DV2 files from two video cameras that I'm trying to synchronize with the
audio track.
Both versions of Cinelerra lock up (consume 100% of the CPU for 2-10 minutes or
indefinitely) after every other splice operation or drag-and-drop of a video
clip on the timeline. The only way I have been able to work is to save the
project after every single edit and when the program locks up (usually the next
edit), kill the process and start over. Needless to say, this is very painful.
The first edit operation (splice, drag-and-drop) after start-up seems to work
somewhat more frequently than operations after a session of zooming in and out
and scrolling of the timeline. Also, turning off drawing of the video frames on
the timeline seems to help sometimes. I cannot get any specifically
reproducible behaviour, but the lockups are very, very frequent. Reading the
mailing list, I noticed some people claiming to use Cinelerra for
semi-professional work on short films. I cannot fathom how that is possible. I
spend more time waiting to see if the lockup is permanent or not and restarting
Cinelerra than I spend editing. Is there a stable version of Cinelerra
somewhere that I have missed?
