The basic renderfarm setup is to split your entire timeline into the
number of render files you specify.  The rule of thumb is 2 to 3 jobs
per node, so you might pick 9 jobs for a 3 node renderfarm.  In that
case, the final result is 9 sections of your final output.

Except for theora/vorbis, it's really only a benefit if you have a lot
of effects that take heavy processing, and you are using a codec that
will streamcopy cleanly (so you can quickly patch the pieces all back
together into one file with cinelerra.)
