Which version of Ubuntu (is it Edgy, Dapper, Breezy, etc.) Try running Synaptic and click the "Search button" Then search for each of needed tools. I believe you will find that there are several versions present. (I think automake should be at least 1.7 or so, but the last version is 1.9 - which also works). You will also need gcc (4.1 is good choice) and g++.
But that's just beginning - you will need a lot more. However I do recomend you to use Synaptic rather then apt-get, because with Synaptic you can search easily. Sometimes the packages that Cinelerra wants don't have the same name in Ubuntu. But the main point is this. The official ubuntu (at least Dapper and Edgy) has everything you need in order to compile Cinelerra - no need to search anywhere else. Good luck!
