Scott, just a little hint: use xosview This little window gives you a quite good "feeling" how the memory fills up, as it differentiates between user memory, system memory and buffers. Normally, Linux increases the buffers/caches on demand and holds them, until the mem is otherwisely needed. Have a look at the column indicating swap usage as well. (You can disable network and IRQ display if you aren't interested in this). There is a third graph showing Swap Pages in/out. Only when this graph indicates constant swapping activity, you really have a problem.... Hermann V.
