Actually "Titler input limited to 1023 characters" looks to me not a bug but rather just a non-infinite feature you can easily cope with *if you are aware of its limits*. What it really looks to me a bug is the behavior of Cin when you write/paste titles with 1024 characters or more. I write here what I'd have liked to read here. ----------------------------------------------- My Cinelerra 2.1 CV r1004 lives on Ubuntu Edgy. She doesn't like the characters after the 1023th. Definitely. Her behavior is so weird that makes me uncomfortable. I feel like she is making fun of me. :-) Holding down the down-arrow (moving the cursor down fast) or repeatedly hitting the down-arrow at the end of the title makes Cin crash. Slowly moving the cursor down, gently hitting the down-arrow makes Cin repeatedly write a piece of text. Moving up-down-left-right-arrows makes Cin delete or write (paste) text apparently randomly. Clicking the mouse to reposition the cursor on the disliked lines makes Cin delete/write/paste wild. Deleting with backspace actually writes (from the clipboard?) Deleting with DEL delete and writes (replaces) text. Trying to mouse-select in order to delete actually writes: you can't end selection because the title keeps growing longer. Even opening and closing other application windows affect this behavior: it pastes text. Closing the title box and reopening it it may make it stable. Further pasting makes it mad again. Eventually Cin crashes. The bigger the title the sooner Cin crashes. A 1900 characters title text file is likely to make Cin crash just when pasted. I hope she hasn't it in for me and you can reproduce this behavior too. --------------------------------------------------- My under-average-user mind sees three solutions to this problem: 1. EMERGENCY LEVEL: To document it on the manual (I'll take care of that). 2. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: To make the title box not accept the 1024th character and show an error message that says something like: "I'm extremely sorry but your nice title can't be longer than 1023 characters". 3. DREAM LEVEL: To make Cin's titler capacity infinite. Many ciaos!
