Unavoidable a typo, corrected 2) [EMAIL PROTECTED] below to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm in touch with a fabricator planning an Anolog to MPEG-2/1394 unit
supporting also Linux. I've suggested to also include a HDMI IN on this
unit, making it even more useable.
When Sony V1/FX7 is operating, the EIP generates uncompressed 1440x1080i
with a color 4:2:2 color space. Digital 4:2:2 data are output via HDMI
port while 4:2:2 analog is output via component out.

Therefore I've suggested for this fabricator which isn't limited to
25Mbps datarate on DV tapes (DV25 or 1080i HDV) to preferably also make
use of a higher bitrate over 1394 and a better MPEG-2 encoding.

HDV applies the [EMAIL PROTECTED] profile, 1440x1080 or 1280x720 resolution,
4:2:0
color sampling and 25Mbps (out of max 60 Mbps defined) bitrate.

1) The better MPEG-2 profile for possibly HDMI IN I think of is
[EMAIL PROTECTED], the same 1440x1080 or 1280x720 resolution, and better 4:2:2
color sampling. Here is also Sony's XDCAM HD 4:2:2 with datarate 50
Mbps (out of max 80 Mbps defined).

2) A better MPEG-2 profile for Analog IN I think of is [EMAIL PROTECTED] with
720x480 or 720x576 resolution at 30fps/25fps, 4:2:2 color sampling at up
to 50Mbps (i.e Sony IMX using I-frame only)

Can Cinelerra use the MPEG-2 formats 1) and 2) above?
Which formats does Cinelerra really support?

Other viewpoints and suggestions?

Rgds,
Terje
