now i found k-menu -> system -> configuration -> "nvidia tv-out" 
(version 0.4.7). i have no idea how to use that... tried clicking around,
like "tv on", "tv off" etc. but the tv remains just blue.

do you mean i have to use SaX instead of the nvidia config program?
