I am running on linux and have produced a video using cinelerra.

I would like to make my video available to windows users over the
internet so I followed the instructions in chapter 19.7 of the manual.
The intermediate quicktime file was 1.3GB in size, the .avi file (at
actually 640x480 resolution) was a respectable 28Mb and the quality was
OK for what I needed. However, although I could play this file
perfectly under linux (kaffeine), when I transfered it to my work
laptop running windows xp, all I got was the audio.

Since I now nothing about windows video playing formats - is this a
problem with my laptop? what should I do to get the widest windows
audience?

I have produced a DVD quality video (mpeg2) but the file is 175MB big -
this does play on my windows laptop. However its rather large for most
people to handle as a download.
