nice!
I'm very interested to see cinelerra in a ppc64, if some thing goes wrong in
the compilation (probably something will go wrong, like in ppc sometime ago)
I'd like to help.
We are starting a free uhf tv, and i'm trying to convince a friend that has a
g5 to install linux on it ;)

may be we can help libdv people to get some altivec optimization in the
code! - libdv has no altivec optimization code in it... - lets assembly!

libdv is a dead end I'm afraid: I think the project's been abandoned.
I've been trying to play around with cinelerra on a G4, and while I'm
reasonably impressed by the overall performance, I can't do anything
with standard dv because of the infamous purple/green problem with
libdv. However, ffmpeg's dv codec works fine on ppc and is a better
codec according to various posts I've found (I can look those up if
you want proof). My question: how could I get cinelerra to use the
ffmpeg codec instead of libdv? Seems like this could help non-altivec
users as well if the codec is of better quality.

I know when I asked this question before, the fact that libquicktime
has a plugin for ffmpeg was mentioned. Unfortunately I had exams to
worry about at the time so there wasn't much I could do. Now that
those are over, I'd like to know if anyone has suggestions for getting
cinelerra to use ffmpeg's dv codec. I haven't coded in C in a while,
but I'm willing to give it a shot.

thanks,
